We arrived on Koh Samui in January 2020 with Pandora, then one year old, and Pearl, just days old — as the world was beginning to feel very uncertain. The day after we arrived, the island closed. Travel between provinces was restricted. The only place we could have returned to was Bangkok, the very city we'd just left.

So we stayed. And over the following months, we fell completely in love with the island.

After three months, we began looking for land. It took six more months to find this particular plot — and we chose it deliberately. We'd been renting villas all over Samui and learned what we needed: proximity to Fisherman's Village and Bangrak, somewhere family-friendly, not party-focused. And accessible. I'm a keen cyclist, and after a long ride around the island, the last thing I wanted was a brutal mountain climb home.

This location was exactly right. A natural waterway runs at the front of the property — strong and musical for part of the year, a quiet stream the rest. Behind the property, an elephant sanctuary I never imagined I'd be able to call a neighbour. And two kilometres to Bophut Beach, one of our favourite places on the island for evening walks, dinners, and watching the girls grow up.

When we designed the villa, we asked ourselves one question: if the world ever shut down again and we had to be somewhere — what would we want that place to have? The answer became the brief. No compromises. Everything we could dream of.

Five years later, the answer is Villa Unity. This home is a reflection of us, our family, and the life we love here. And now, we welcome you to enjoy our sanctuary.
