[The Villa Unity Story]

### We built this house to answer a question.
In March 2020 we left Bangkok for Koh Samui with two suitcases, two small daughters and a borrowed car, expecting six weeks away. The island closed behind us, and we stayed. The question we asked in that first lockdown — if we have to be stuck somewhere, what would we want that place to have? — became the design brief, and over five years it became Villa Unity. We still live here. From December 2026, for the first time, the house takes guests: never rented before, run by the family who built it.
A spa floor, an infinity pool over the canopy, and an ethical elephant sanctuary 150 metres away are not amenities on a list. They are simply the setting you wake up in.
This is not the kind of place you find on a booking platform. It is the kind of place you return to, years from now, and realise shaped something in you.

[Why Villa Unity]

### What you get here that you won’t find anywhere else.
Five suites, wellness floor, pool, gardens — no shared spaces, no other guests, no hotel lobby. Your family, your rules.
- Elsewhere: Shared pools, spa booking queues, restaurant seating times, noise from other guests. Privacy is a premium add-on, not the default.
The Samui Elephant Haven sits a 150-metre walk from the gate, with a café where you can watch the herd over coffee. Stroll over before breakfast — no day trip, no transfers.
- Elsewhere: Elephant experiences require day trips, transport, and tourist crowds. You leave the experience behind when you return to your hotel.
Infrared sauna, steam room, cold plunge, hot tub, salon — plus fitness studio, gym, and yoga. All private, all 24 hours, no bookings.
- Elsewhere: Hotel spas charge per session, require advance booking, and run on fixed schedules. In-villa wellness is usually a plunge pool at most.
You deal directly with the family who built it. Requests are handled personally, not through a call centre. We live on the island full-time.
- Elsewhere: Resort staff rotate. Villa management companies handle dozens of properties. Your booking is a line item, not a relationship.
A full solar array with battery backup keeps Villa Unity running through Samui’s occasional outages — air-con, WiFi and lighting uninterrupted.

### Three things that explain the house.
- The 2020 brief: a spa floor (gyms shut), a 15 m pool (our eldest lived in water), five levels (ten guests never feel like ten).
- The hill in the walls: excavated rock hand-chiselled into planter boxes and the massage/entertainment room walls.
- The elephants over the wall: the owners bought the land partly because of the sanctuary; 70+ rai around it can never be developed.
